The 38th congress of the German Sociological Association (GSA) will take place from 26.09.2016 to 30.09.2016 at the University of Bamberg. We are glad to welcome you in September 2016!

Staying in Bamberg and places around Bamberg

It is hard to find a place to stay in Bamberg, which is affordable. There are some smaller towns closed to Banberg where you can find some low priced accommodations, for example in Schweinfurt, Haßfurt and Forchheim. There are trains from Bamberg to these towns running regularly.

Important news: Tickets for Science Slam and Congress party

Reserved tickets have to be collected at the Check-In until Wednesday, 28/09/16. All tickets not picked up until 2pm on Wednesdey, 28/09/16, will be resell at 2.30pm at Feldkirchenstraße 21. Science Slam and Congress party are sold out completely by then. There will be no ticket office at Haas-Säle.

First confirmed keynotes

We are pleased about the confirmation of Andreas Voßkuhle who will hold the opening lecture. Furthermore we happily received the confirmations of Thomas DiPrete (Columbia University), Richard Alba (City University New York), Jill Rubery (University of Manchester), Moshe Zuckermann (University of Tel Aviv), Nancy Fraser (City University of New York) and Melinda Mills (University of Oxford)! Section Events

  • Until 23.12.2015: Notification of section events via e-mail to the congress office. Notice: each section is permitted to arrange up to two events. Events in cooperation with other sections count as particular event for each section involved.
  • Until 11.05.2016: Notification of all speakers, lecture titles and submission of abstracts to the congress office (via link on this homepage which will be released from May 2016 on). The abstracts may not exceed 2.400 characters (with spaces).

 

Ad-hoc-groups

  • Until 01.03.2016: Applicationsfor organizing an Ad-hoc-group (via link on this homepage which will be released from February  2016 on).
  • Until 11.05.2016: Notifications of all speakers, lecture titles and submission of abstracts to the congress office (via link on this homepage which will be released from February 2016 on). The abstracts may not exceed 2.400 characters (with spaces).

 

Plenary Sessions

  • Until 31.03.2016: Deadline for applications on Call for Paper to the plenary sessions (for jury members: details will be published together with the CfP)

Registration at an early-bird-tariff

  • 31.05.2016: last day for registration at an early-bird-tariff.

 

The entire and detailed congress program will be released at the end of May/beginning of June 2016.

 

 

The registration to the congress will be online at the beginning of February 2016.

Important

Accomodation at Bamberg will be almost fully booked in September, due to this we highly recommend making reservations as early as possible. Further information you will find here.
